About us

Thing of Beauty is inspired by Anne Orr's lifelong interest in quality crafts and the people who make them.

Her aim is to bring together makers and the discerning customer with a collection of beautiful products, all made in the United Kingdom for you and your home.

The collection will grow and constantly change. Products will also be added to reflect the seasons of the year - warmth for winter, garden items for spring and summer, festive gifts for Christmas etc.

The aim is also to source appropriate gifts for special occasions - weddings, anniversaries, retirement etc - so the gift will become a family heirloom to treasure. For business customers, we can help you find something unusual to show your appreciation of a valued client or employee.

We would like to encourage the concept of 'slow gifts' - products that are very definitely not mass produced, the number being limited by the time an individual craftsman has to make them. So expect to see unusual pieces come and go - replaced by new and different ones. But we will always supplement our craft pieces with a selection of small gifts from small manufacturers in the U.K. who are proud of the quality of their products and that they are keeping indigenous industry alive.
